RELATIONSHIPS & TRUST

Teen therapy for relationship struggles, family conflict, and trust.

For teens who struggle with friendships, feel misunderstood at home, have a hard time communicating what they need, or aren’t sure who they can trust.

Relationships can become one of the most stressful parts of adolescence. Your teen may constantly question where they stand with friends while also feeling misunderstood or disconnected at home. Conversations turn into arguments, they shut down, or you both keep getting stuck in the same patterns.

Past experiences can shape what your teen expects from relationships now.

Attachment experiences, trauma, adoption or foster care, family dynamics, and earlier relationships can affect how a teen interprets conflict, handles closeness, communicates needs, and decides whether another person feels safe to trust.

That doesn’t mean every disagreement is because of the past. Therapy gives us room to understand the patterns that keep showing up and figure out whether they’re still helping.

We can work on…

  • understanding what happens your teen feels criticized, rejected, or misunderstood

  • communicating feelings and needs without immediately shutting down or escalating

  • recognizing patterns that repeat with friends and family

  • tolerating disagreement without assuming the worst

  • developing healthier boundaries

  • repairing conflict and reconnecting after an argument

  • feeling more secure in where they stand with people they care about
